Meet the Founder

A Trauma-Informed, Somatic Foundation for Thoughtful Care

Hidden Trails Therapy was founded by Ashley Vande Slunt, LMFT, with a vision of creating a practice rooted in nervous system awareness, trauma-informed care, and holistic approaches to healing.

Hidden Trails Therapy was founded with the vision of bringing together clinicians who share a commitment to trauma-informed, somatic, and integrative care while each bringing their own unique areas of expertise. Our approach emphasizes compassionate, evidence-informed care that supports lasting growth and meaningful change.

Ashley’s clinical foundation is grounded in somatic and trauma-focused therapies, including EMDR, nervous system regulation, mindfulness-based practices, and relational depth work. These influences continue to shape the culture and values of Hidden Trails Therapy today.

A Connected Approach to Healing

While these trainings may appear diverse, they are united by a shared philosophy: healing is most sustainable when it honors both the mind and the body.

Through advanced training in EMDR, somatic therapies, nervous system regulation, integrative mental health, and emerging psychedelic-assisted approaches, Ashley has developed an approach that recognizes how stress, trauma, relationships, identity, and lived experience shape the whole person.

Today, Hidden Trails Therapy offers integrative therapy, EMDR, somatic therapy, nervous system-focused care, psychedelic preparation and integration support, and holistic mental health services for adults throughout Oregon and Colorado.

Why Hidden Trails

Hidden Trails Therapy was created as a response to the limitations of one-size-fits-all mental health care. Ashley envisioned a practice rooted in somatic and holistic approaches, where therapy honors the mind–body connection and supports sustainable change through safety, attunement, and choice.

Hidden Trails Therapy is grounded in trauma-informed, somatic, and holistic care that honors autonomy, lived experience, and personal context. Care at Hidden Trails is approached with cultural humility, non-judgment, and respect for each person's unique background and story.

Care at Hidden Trails centers personal pace and lived experience, supporting adults navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, life transitions, and complex family systems through an integrative, body-informed lens.

A Somatic & Holistic Lens

Ashley’s background as a somatic and holistic practitioner informs the culture of the practice as a whole. She believes that meaningful healing involves the nervous system, the body, and the relational field, not just insight alone.

This lens shapes the culture and direction of Hidden Trails Therapy and informs the clinicians who choose to practice within it. Hidden Trails approach to care continues to move towards care: with curiosity, depth, and an understanding of how stress, trauma, identity, and lived experience shape the mind-body connection.

Leadership & Clinical Integrity

As Founder and Clinical Director, Ashley is committed to maintaining a high standard of ethical, trauma-informed care across the practice. As the practice grows, Ashley seeks to collaborate with clinicians who share values of humility, ongoing learning, and respect for client autonomy.

Hidden Trails Therapy is designed to be a thoughtful, supportive space: both for those seeking care and for the clinicians who provide it.
